IT Specialist for Application Development (Apprenticeship)

Apprenticeship · Sept 2020 – Aug 2023

Supported the Network Security Monitoring and Endpoint Protection team by developing internal tooling to improve operational efficiency and visibility. This included building performance-scanning and health-check applications for the enterprise antivirus client, creating automated rollout pipelines for security configurations using GitLab Runners, and extending Splunk dashboards and data processing to enhance monitoring and incident response. The focus was on reliability, repeatability, and reducing manual effort in daily security operations.

Built internal tooling consisting of a .NET-based REST backend and an Angular frontend. The core component is a high-performance directory crawler that automatically scans the file system and identifies directories matching a defined project pattern. All detected results are written into a PostgreSQL database in a structured form and then presented in the web interface. The focus was on efficient crawling performance and a clear, understandable representation of the project data in the UI.

Supported the development of a web application built on the MERN stack. The application provides an interface for creating technical customer documentation and includes validation and consistency checks to ensure compliance with defined standards. Implemented UI components, integrated backend endpoints, and ensured that rule-based checks were correctly applied during the documentation process.

Software Developer (Internship)

Internship · Sept 2019 – Sept 2020

Developed custom desktop applications for automated microscope workflows using Windows Presentation Foundation and Zeiss interfaces. These applications control microscopes, coordinate measurement sequences, and integrate machine learning models to support material inspection and analysis. Collaborated directly with customers such as Bosch, Porsche, Thyssenkrupp, and CeramTec, tailoring functionality to production and laboratory workflows.

Additionally supported IT setup tasks including workstation configuration and deployment. Extended Zeiss ZEN Core functionality through custom scripting and reverse-engineering of internal interfaces to provide automation features not available out of the box.
